Man charged in thefts of auger, e-bike

A man accused of stealing expensive goods from a retail store on Lambton Mall Road in Sarnia, has been arrested.

On January 18, police said the suspect stole an ice auger worth $820.

He allegedly came back January 28, and got an employee to unlock a $2,800 e-bike.

Police said the suspect pushed the bike past the self check out area, and told staff he was going to retrieve the charger from the customer service desk.

He allegedly rode it out of the store and into the parking lot.

Police said loss prevention officers recognized the suspect from a previous interaction at the store.

He allegedly came in the previous day to renew his fishing licence.

The accused was arrested and released from custody with conditions.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
