Another Windsor-Essex mayor has decided to ask voters for another four years in office.
Kingsville's incumbent mayor, Dennis Rogers, has filed to run for a second term.
Speaking to WindsorNewsToday.ca, Rogers said he first got into politics to help people and make a difference.
"When I threw my hat into the ring last term, I wanted to be part of the solution," said Rogers. "This last term, we really built resiliency, sustainability, and a foundation. The focus was infrastructure, and we will continue to do that, just to ensure that our community is sustainable in the future."
Rogers, a local business owner, is a lifelong Kingsville resident.
"I'm incredibly proud, appreciative, and humbled to be the head of council for my hometown," said Rogers. "I grew up in this town. I've got a business in this town. My kids go to school here. We're invested."
Rogers was first elected in 2022, succeeding long-time mayor Nelson Santos, who resigned to take an administrative position outside the region.
Three other candidates have filed to run for Kingsville mayor. They are Mary Ellen Havlik, Roshan Nallaratnam, and Thomas Neufeld.
Other mayoral incumbents in Windsor-Essex who have declared for re-election are Michael Prue of Amherstburg, Sherry Bondy of Essex, LaSalle's Crystal Meloche, Tracey Bailey of Lakeshore, Hilda MacDonald of Leamington, and Gary McNamara of Tecumseh.
Windsor's Drew Dilkens and Pelee Island's Cathy Miller have not yet announced their intentions.
The deadline to file is August 21, with the election on Monday, October 26.
