Canada Post resumes normal operations in Windsor

Operations at Canada Post in Windsor, Hamilton, Niagara Region, Sault Ste. Marie, and Southern Ontario are back to normal after the Crown Corporation suspended service last week because of wildfire smoke.

Back on July 16, Canada Post suspended mail and parcel delivery as a blanket of wildfire smoke triggered an orange alert from Environment Canada.

Canada Post wasn't alone in suspending operations. There were many cancellations during the orange alert.

The next day, Windsor was placed under a yellow alert, meaning postal carriers would do their best to deliver, but there could be delays.

Communities in Northwestern Ontario remain under a red alert, including Aroland, Cat Lake, Gull Bay, Armstrong Station and Collins. Most of those communities are under an evacuation alert.

Almost 200 fires were burning across Ontario on Monday, 57 of which were considered out of control.
