Canadian musicians will take to the stage this weekend at Centennial Park.
It's the first ever Rocktoberfest in support of the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3.
Manager of Fund Development and Communications Marie Marcy-Smids said it's part of the chapter's 40th anniversary celebrations.
"In addition to 54-40 and Dwayne Gretzky, we have six other really amazing local bands. We have Corey James Mitchell, Little White Lies, Boneyard, The Hip Machine, Twang Bastard, and LiveWire. It's going to be a great weekend of Canadian music and Bavarian food and let's let Michigan hear us," said Marcy-Smids.
Funds raised will go towards local programs and services for individuals and families living with dementia.
"We are facing a deficit this year so any of the money will help offset that," said Marcy-Smids. "We have a myriad of programs, we have in-home respite and also we run a day program five days a week. There's a huge need for us to expand that, we have a waiting list typically. Our system navigation program, so when you're diagnosed we have social workers and RNs that help with that and clinical support."
The two-night outdoor concert event also features Bavarian-inspired food.
Marcy-Smids said on Saturday, there's also a full day of family fun planned.
"We've got the Kids Funfest Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be EMS and first responders on site so kids can go look at the vehicles and get their pictures taken," she said.
Gates for the concerts open both nights at 6 p.m.
General admission tickets are $60 or a weekend pass for $100.
