It's National Volunteer Week.
Lambton Shores is doing its part to celebrate the people and groups who give their time, energy, and passion to strengthen the community.
Nominations are now open for the municipality's 2026 Volunteer Appreciation Awards.
In a news release, Mayor Doug Cook said volunteers play an important role in the community by supporting local programs, events, organizations, and clubs.
"Their contributions help build a more connected, vibrant, and resilient community and we want to help celebrate them with this year’s volunteer awards," said Cook. "We encourage residents to take a moment to nominate someone who goes above and beyond to make Lambton Shores a better place. We have so many incredible volunteers and community groups that are dedicated to improving the community and we hope you can help us recognize them with your nominations."
Award categories include:
• Arts and Culture Award
• Environment Award
• Good Neighbour Award
• Heritage Award
• Sport and Recreation Award
• Civic Award
• Outstanding Community Group Award
Recipients will be honoured later this year at the municipality’s annual volunteer recognition event.
Nominations are being accepted until June 19.
More information is posted to the Lambton Shores website.
National Volunteer Week runs until April 25.
