Sarnia Sting to choose fourth in OHL Draft

The Sarnia Sting will have the fourth overall pick in this year's Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection.

The league announced the results of the draft lottery on Wednesday afternoon.

It was the most likely scenario for the Sting, as their record of 21-38-8-1 resulted in a 17th place finish in the 20 team league.

Their chances of choosing first were just 10 per cent.

It's the second straight year the Sting will be choosing fourth after Brenner Lammens was taken with the selection in 2025.

The last place Oshawa Generals will have the first pick, followed by the Erie Otters and Brampton Steelheads.

The Sting will lose Mitch Young, Jordan Bax, and Ben Pickell next season as they've aged out of the league.

They'll likely rely heavily on their young core, including captain Alessandro Di Iorio, Beckham Edwards, Easton Walos, and Logan Hawery.

The 2026-2027 campaign will be the first full season behind the Sarnia bench for Mathieu Turcotte, who replaced Alan Letang 20 games into the year.

The draft, presented by Real Canadian Superstore, returns to an in-person experience for the first time in 25 years.

It's being held at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston on June 12 and 13.
