Watford Library to undergo structural improvements

The Watford Library will be undergoing structural improvements starting the first week of April.

The project is led by the Township of Warwick in collaboration with the County of Lambton to maintain and enhance the historic building.

It will include foundation repairs, masonry work, and address existing safety concerns.

The Township of Warwick is investing $120,000 as part of a capital initiative approved in the 2026 municipal budget.

The Library is the only remaining active Carnegie library in Lambton County. The repairs will help preserve the building while ensuring it remains safe and accessible.

The building will remain open during the four to five weeks of construction.

Visitors may experience an increase in noise, reduced parking, and restricted access to some areas, although all entrances and the accessible lift will remain open.

Programs that are usually held in the basement could be affected temporarily. Lambton Works drop-in services will be relocated to the boardroom at the Township of Warwick Municipal Office at 5280 Nauvoo Road.

The library will communicate any other changes directly with participants.

The work is a part of phase one of a two-phase project approved in the Township’s 2026 capital budget.

Details about phase two will be announced at a later date.
