Sting fall to Rangers ending three-game winning streak

The Kitchener Rangers snapped the Sarnia Sting's three-game winning streak with a 5-2 win at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Wednesday night.

Jack Van Volsen opened the scoring for the Sting early in the first period, his 10th of the season.

The Rangers would then score four unanswered goals to secure the win.

Easton Walos also scored for the Sting, and Sarnia goalie Evan Maillet made 20 saves in net.

Sting GM Dylan Seca after the game, hinted the recent heavy schedule for the Sting may have contributed to them looking a little tired on the ice.

"You come off of three big games, a huge emotional high you have one off day, we practiced yesterday and then play against a really good Kitchener team," he said. "I thought we looked a little tired, not for any reason other than I honestly think the emotional highs of the weekend was tough to sustain. That's the schedule of the Ontario Hockey League at times and you've got to figure your way around it."

The Sting fall to 10-18-3-1 in the West Division, two points behind the Erie Otters for the eighth and final playoff spot.

The Sarnia Sting visit the Erie Otters on Friday, December 19. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. You can catch the game live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
