Registration is open for the Sarnia-Lambton Jordan's Run the Runway 5K.
Community members will be able to participate in different modes of active transportation on the runway at Chris Hadfield Airport on October 3 at 5 p.m.
This is the last event of a four run series.
Paul Skuza, manager at the YMCA Jerry McCaw Family Centre, said the event honours the life of Jordan Strickland, who was an avid YMCA camper.
"He tragically passed in a car accident, so his family wanted to honour his legacy and to start this 5K run in London just to support of Y Camps, which he loved attending as a young man," he said.
Skuza said the event is known as a run, walk, and roll.
"If you want to push a stroller, if you have a little one, if you want to walk it of course, it's not a maximum time. It takes maybe over an hour if you're walking it, so if you can walk for an hour. You can still come out and participate and have some fun," he said.
There will also be a kids one kilometre fun run, which saw 30 kids participate last year.
Skuza said money raised will stay in Sarnia-Lambton.
"This is a fundraiser for Y Camps, which is a big part of our operation at the YMCA, going back 100 years we've been doing camps and so the Y wants to do as much as we can," he said.
Last year, approximately $20,000 was raised from just the Sarnia run.
Skuza said there will also be some food after the race.
"It's a fun night. There's going to be some music after, some people are hanging out after the race, celebrating, having some pizza and bring the whole family and some raffle prizes," he said.
Registration can be done on the YMCA southwestern Ontario website.
The run started in London in 2014 but expanded to areas like St. Thomas, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia-Lambton last year.
