Wiarton man accused of threatening people with machete

A Wiarton man is facing numerous charges after allegedly threatening people with a machete in Owen Sound on Thursday night.

The Owen Sound Police Service responded to a call in the area of Ninth Street West and First Avenue West around 11 p.m. on September 17.

Police said they arrived on scene within one minute of receiving the call, quickly identified a suspect, and took him into custody without incident.

The 63-year-old has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of methamphetamine.

Police say no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound Court in December.
