Car seat clinic coming to Markdale

Families in Grey County will have an opportunity this week to make sure their youngest passengers are travelling safely.

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police, working alongside the Owen Sound Police Auxiliary Unit, will host a Car Seat Clinic on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Markdale OPP Detachment on Greenview Lane. The drop-in event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to all parents and caregivers.

There is no need to book an appointment in advance. Those attending can simply arrive at the detachment and advise staff they are there for assistance with a child car seat installation.

The clinic follows recent specialized training completed by Grey Bruce OPP members and Owen Sound Auxiliary officers through the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada. With that certification, officers are qualified to help families correctly install and secure child car seats, reducing the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Organizers encourage participants to bring both their car seat manual and their vehicle owner’s manual to help ensure the installation process goes smoothly.

Anyone who cannot make it to Thursday’s clinic can still access support. The Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada maintains online resources and a nationwide directory of certified technicians. More information is available at cpsac.org.
