Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have cleared an area of Lakeshore following an active investigation on Wednesday.
Few details have been released, but police say that officers attempted to stop a vehicle just before 10:30 a.m. in the area of Renaud Line and County Road 42.
The vehicle did not stop, and was shortly after found unoccupied on Renaud Line.
The two men who were in the vehicle ran toward a field along County Road 42 between Renaud Line and Rourke Line.
One of them, a 32-year-old man from Leamington, was arrested at the scene, while police continued to look for the other man.
"Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area at this time," read a social media post from the OPP West Region on Wednesday afternoon. "Residents in the immediate area are asked to stay indoors and keep doors and windows locked, while the investigation continues."
Representatives from the two local English-language school boards told WindsorNewsToday.ca that there were no hold-and-secures in place at area schools, and classes continued Wednesday as usual.
The OPP cleared the scene at around 4:30 p.m., but there was no word on whether the second suspect was arrested.
