Sarnia Home Depot and The Haven are coming together to raise funds for local at-risk and homeless youth.
Until June 14, customers can donate at the store’s checkout or online at OrangeDoorProject.ca. All local donations will help The Haven, Sarnia’s only youth shelter.
“It’s a great opportunity to highlight The Haven,” said Inn of the Good Shepherd Executive Director Jack Christine. “Our youth shelter is an integral part of The Inn of the Good Shepherd, and this partnership helps bring greater awareness to the important support it provides for youth in our community.”
Home Depot Canada supports more than 120 organizations through the Orange Door Project, all aimed at supporting at-risk and homeless youth.
“We are so grateful to be selected for The Orange Door Project,” said The Haven’s Program Coordinator Mehgan Humphreys. “The combined contributions will be utilized in many aspects of our programs and support countless individuals.”
The Haven houses up to nine youths at any given time and aims at helping them to finish their education, gain financial independence and find a stable living environment.
“Youth homelessness exists in every community, including our own,” said Christine. “Partnerships like this are important and will help ensure young people in our community have access to safe shelter, support, and the resources they need to build a stable future.”
One hundred per cent of customer donations made in-store and online directly support local organizations like The Haven.
