A new apartment building on Afton Drive is just about move in ready.
The six-storey building has 90 one and two-bedroom rental suites that include amenities such as in-unit laundry, a workout space, a pickleball court, and a guest suite.
"We'll also have community garden beds. So the big thing we found is that people want an outside space. If someone likes gardening, we're going to have some outdoor exercise equipment as well. We've got a resident life coordinator who is so excited to plan events," said Lauren Pomerleau, vice president for growth and performance at Vensuris Group. "We have an open house on May 22. It's by appointment only, but anyone can go on our website and book an appointment to come and view the entire building. So we'll be showcasing all of the amenities at that point."
Every unit includes parking, and there is an option for covered parking.
"We're now in full leasing. We started off with pre-leasing, just being able to show our three model suites, and we're already over 10 per cent leased, which is really exciting. We're happy for the response that the community's had, and now we're excited to move into the full leasing stage," Pomerleau said.
The building at 1100 Afton Drive was a precast building.
"It's called total precast, which means the entire outside is built in concrete slabs. So the walls came pre-installed with the windows on it. The exterior already had its first coat of paint, and they brought it, shipped everything to the site, and then basically put it together like a Lego on the outside," said Pomerleau. "The building itself was built in 42 and a half working days. We had the actual physical structure up, which was wild. And now, it's 13 and a half months from the time we broke ground to the time we're going to be done with construction, and within 15 months moving people in."
Those who would like to take a look at any units can contact for a walkthrough on the building's website.
