OPP to host fraud awareness presentation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Town of Petrolia are inviting residents learn more about fraud prevention and how to protect themselves from becoming a victim.

There's a fraud prevention and awareness presentation scheduled for Thursday.

During the session, Lambton OPP officers will discuss common and emerging scams, warning signs to watch for, and practical steps one can take to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.

The town agreed to have the public presentation at Victoria Hall during a meeting in January.

The free event takes place on March 12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Victoria Hall, 411 Greenfield, Petrolia.

Registration is not required.

The presentation follows two other sessions held earlier in the week in Sarnia and Watford.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, over 112,000 fraud reports were received in 2025 and over $704 million was lost by victims.
