Drug-related charges laid in Grand Bend traffic stop

A suspended driver from South Huron, accused of possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine, is facing over a dozen charges after being stopped in Grand Bend.

Lambton OPP officers were alerted about a possible impaired driver on March 6.

As a result, a 37-year-old was stopped on Main Street at around 10:30 a.m. 

The driver was charged with the following:

- Two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl

- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs

- Two counts of failure to comply with a probation order

- Seven counts of operation while prohibited under the criminal code

- Driving while under suspension

OPP said the accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on March 12.

The vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.

OPP are thanking the person who reported the traffic complaint. Residents who witness something suspicious or a possible impaired driver are asked to report it to OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
