LKDSB announces winners of salt spreader name contest

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB)'s two salt spreaders officially have names.

Over the past week, the public got the chance to vote for the best names chosen by classes in schools across Chatham-Kent (CK) and Lambton County.

Over 99,000 votes were cast, with the most popular answer from each of the areas being chosen.

In CK, the salt spreader will be known as Ice, Ice, Salty. This name was submitted by Mrs. Brown and Mr. Haley’s kindergarten class at King George Public School in Chatham.

The winning name in Lambton County was Mr. Melt, submitted by Mr. Corver’s Grade 6 class at Rosedale Public School in Sarnia.

“We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, from the students who offered such imaginative entries, the staff that encouraged participation in their classrooms, and to the community members who took the time to vote,” said Gary Girardi, LKDSB Director of Education.

Both names will be displayed on the salt spreaders, while the winning classes will get a pizza party as a prize.
