Fall turnaround underway at Imperial

Work has started on a major maintenance turnaround at Imperial.

The scheduled maintenance at the Sarnia facility is expected to take about six weeks to complete.

In a post to social media, Imperial said during the process of shutting down equipment, residents may notice increased flaring and noise.

Imperial said the $50 million investment in safety and reliability is being driven by its workforce and over 600 skilled tradespeople including boilermakers, pipefitters, welders, electricians, scaffolders and more.

"Imperial keeps Canada moving by producing the quality fuel products that power cars, trucks, airplanes, and industries," read the post. "This turnaround is a key part of ensuring we continue to deliver energy safely and efficiently.

Residents are advised increased traffic around the site is also expected during the six week turnaround, particularly during shift changes.
