An inquest into the 2020 death of a Sarnia inmate, 40-year-old Brent Moore, is scheduled to start next week and last for five days.
The Ministry of Solicitor General announced the inquest in July and a date was formally announced on Monday afternoon.
The inquest is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 22, at 9:30 a.m. via video conference.
The jury will hear from approximately eight witnesses and may make recommendations to prevent other deaths.
Moore died at the hospital on August 30, 2020, after being transferred from the Sarnia Jail. He faced multiple charges after city police seized over $126,000 worth of drugs from a Parker Street residence.
The Ministry of the Solicitor General said an inquest into Moore's death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
Dr. Geoffrey Bond will be the presiding officer and Indira Stewart will be the inquest counsel.
