The seventh annual Mitton Village Block Party will see over 50 vendors, live music, food, chalk art, and inflatables set up along Mitton Street on Saturday, August 23.
Vendor Coordinator Kyraith Wright said the community event has changed "tremendously" since it began in 2019.
"It's been really amazing to see the sheer amount of vendors we're able to attract, as well as the amazing food we provide, the amazing bands too," she said. "We're very excited to see the growth that comes this year from traffic."
For the first time, the number of attendees will be officially tracked.
"We've got volunteers stationed at both main entry points so this is really going to give us a great tell of just how many feet we get through our event," Wright said. "We're finally at a point where our growth can be measured."
Wright said this information will help with future planning, in attracting additional vendors and musical talent.
This weekend's event will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
"It truly is the best party of the year," Wright said.
Aside from providing a fun outing for residents, Wright said the block party also supports local businesses and entrepreneurs.
"Melodie of Mindful Jewelry & Crystals in Mitton Village, she got her start with us back in 2019 -- and just amazing community and connections she felt and that eventually led to her being able to open up her own shop right in Mitton Village," Wright said.
During the event, Mitton Street South will be closed to vehicular traffic between Wellington Street and Davis Street.
Further details can be found on the event's Facebook page.
The block party was organized by the Mitton Village Citizens Collective, a grassroots volunteer group.
