OLG issues gaming revenue payments to Sarnia, Point Edward

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued first quarter gaming revenue payments to cities that host casinos, including Sarnia and Point Edward.

The payments span from April 1 to June 30.

Sarnia received $103,697 for hosting Gateway Casino while the village was given $424,806 for hosting Starlight Casino.

Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sarnia has received $28,159,453.

Point Edward has received $54,337,752 since April 2000.

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey commented on the news.

"OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to Point Edward and Sarnia,” said Bailey. "In addition to creating jobs, important investments in local public services are made possible through OLG’s sharing of casino revenue."

The OLG said the payments contribute to economic development including infrastructure and job creation.

Since 1994, host communities have received almost $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
