$16K in Fentanyl seized during impaired driving call

A 40-year-old man was arrested after more than $16,000 in fentanyl was located inside of a vehicle.

Sarnia police were called to a parking lot Saturday, May 17 just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Murphy Road and London Road for a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a pickup truck.

It was reported the vehicle was running and in drive.

When police arrived officers contained the vehicle to prevent it from being put into motion and for several minutes they tried to wake the driver inside of the locked vehicle.

The driver woke up and officers observed signs of impairment.

Police searched the vehicle and seized 112 grams of fentanyl with a street value of $16,887.

The man was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and impaired driving.

He was held for bail and the investigation is ongoing.
