Students and staff at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Port Lambton are celebrating the completion of the second phase of a major renovation project.
It's being called a "significant milestone in the school’s ongoing growth and modernization."
Work includes a redesigned front entrance with a new vestibule, a fully renovated main office, and a transformed gymnasium featuring a drop-down stage, new flooring, and upgraded basketball nets.
The library, staff room, and three additional classrooms have received new windows, flooring, millwork, and a fresh coat of paint.
Exterior renovations included new brickwork, added insulation to the front and rear of the school, roof repairs, and sealing and painting around the gymnasium.
The back play area was expanded and resurfaced, and a new universal washroom was installed.
Director of Education Lisa Demers is pleased.
“This project represents a significant investment into the future of Sacred Heart," said Demers. "By enhancing our school facilities, we’re not only meeting the needs of today’s learners but also creating a space where future generations can learn and thrive.”
Principal Carrie Webb-Coene said the transformation has been amazing.
"The upgrades have made a huge difference in our learning spaces, and our entire school community is thrilled to see these improvements come to life," she said.
The project was funded through the St. Clair Catholic District School Board’s renewal capital funding allocation.
A total of $4,570,000 was earmarked to support this phase of the school’s growth and modernization.
