Drug trafficking charges have been laid against two Walpole Island residents after officers seized an unspecified quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Members of the Lambton OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Elgin-Middlesex CSCU, Essex CSCU, West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, and Walpole Island Police Service searched an address on Altiman Road at Walpole Island First Nation on May 2.
During the search, officers also seized Canadian currency and other offence-related items.
Lambton OPP said the combined estimated value of the items seized is over $8,400.
A 41-year-old man was charged with three counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, failure to comply with probation order, possession of a Schedule 1 substance - methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl.
A 33-year-old woman was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - fentanyl and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine.
The two were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on July 2.
