Respiratory vaccine clinics coming to Huron, Perth

Residents in Huron and Perth counties who have been unable to get immunized against respiratory illnesses at local pharmacies or doctor's offices will soon have a third option.

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has announced it will be running vaccination clinics for influenza, COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) from November 23 until December 4.

"Getting immunized is one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family and our community from serious illness this respiratory season," said Dr. Miriam Klassen, medical officer of health for HPPH. "Most people can get immunized through their local pharmacy or healthcare provider. These HPPH clinics are for anyone who has not been able to do that, so no one in Huron and Perth misses the chance to be protected."

The immunization clinics will be held at the health unit's sites in Clinton, Listowel, Stratford, and Wingham. Appointments are required and can be booked online at www.hpph.ca/vaccines.

Public health officials recommend everyone aged six-months and older receive the flu and COVID-19 vaccines annually. Both can be administered safely at the same time and are free. The RSV vaccine is available at no charge to people 75-years-old and older, long-term care and retirement home residents, infants up to eight-months old born on or after April 1, 2026, and pregnant women.
